[quotef45e4="SHS`"]Despite the fact using Amaya as a primary browser is near impossible... I'd choose it over NS4.[/quotef45e4]
Well, so much for any reasonable claim to objectivity :)

But I agree with the rest ...

Hmmm, perhaps should have clarified.

If you are still writing to HTML 3.2. Either browser will do ok. Start using CSS, things break... but at least Amaya bugs are a lot less quirky than some of the NS4 ones.

Also... I have the misfortune of having quite a few people at my work who swear by NS4.x... and complain at Mozilla being "quirky" (IMO, not bugged to high heaven).

Well, my top three would be:
1. IE 5.5
2. Konqurer
3. Opera 6

IE 6 still doesn't support png's, despite M$ bullshite promises, and PNG is blatantly the best image format, hands down. [bdd8c5]I[/bdd8c5] don't call that compatible. :P
[/quotedd8c5]

it displays PNGs, but it doesn't do the alpha transparency properly

and it does seem logical to support full apha transparencies now that icons in winXP has full alpha transparency support :?

What the browser supports is quite seperate to what colour depth the icons can be.

For example, Win98 doesn't have 24bit RGBA icons, yet Mozilla will render them no probs (24bit RGBA pngs that is...).

But IE6 was just and XPified release of 5.5.. and infact I should have lumped 5.5 with 6... and 5.x changed to 5.0x. Blah. :(

There's hoping for IE7 to be uber spiffy. :D

Only annoying quirk for me using Mozilla is that it doesn't like:

[code:1eb72a]
table {
border-collapse: collapse;
}
[/code:1eb72a]

No probs with Opera6 or IE.
