@Nicofuma: I'm curious about how this proposal will work if the vendor folder has to be updated. Currently the vendor folder has to be deleted and a new one uploaded. If the one-click update has to depend on things like Symfony for instance then it won't work.
How about uploading files to e.g.
vendor_tmp
folder and then just renaming two directories and deleting old vendor folder?

Actually a 1 click update could probably run composer and update the vendor stuff the right way.
Has an irascible disposition.

I think a 1 click update would be a great idea.

A good idea for me, too - 1 click update is a long time requested feature.
Most software with one click update does it in several steps - download the new, (deactivate board?) uninstall the old one without deleting the data, install the new one - clear cache (activate board?). I think it is usual to work with tmp paths/folders.

Hi,
Any update regarding this?
Will it also work on older version - I mean if I upgrate to 3.3. will it be a one click update, or will it be only forward from 3.3?

No this won't be in 3.2 at all, which is feature frozen. This is planned for 3.3 and forward, as the title implies.

I understand that it will only be in 3.3.
My question was what is the workflow going to be when I update from 3.1/3.2?
Will I use the "old" installer to migrate, and only than future updates will be one click? Or will the migration itself will also be a "one-click"?
As I did an update from 3.1 to 3.2 on one of the boards I admin and it was long and a bit frustrating (a lot of manual refreshes) I hope for the second option.

AFAIK the work on this feature is not even started, so nobody can tell yet.

If you have the solution then you could always create a PR for it.
