Private messages link should go into UCP

As the title says.... i think the Private messages link should go into UCP.
When you receive a new message, you are being announced in the Notifications tab and in the PM tab.
I dont see why it should do that twice... We dont often bother to go and read old pms, and if we want to do that, we can nicely go and do that from the ucp.

Any thoughts?

Really? is there a preview of that ? With the current UI design i dont think theres enough space to place the PM link and make it look ok.

I really dont think it people care much about the pms. Once you receive a pm and read it. Thats it.
You dont need it there on the main page. It really is pretty useless in 3.1, near the notifications.

I much prefer it like this. Simple.

Or we can just merge them into one drop down with links to both similar to Facebook. So you woul only have notifications but in that drop down their would be a tab to switch between viewing all or just pms

Moreover pms does not really belong in UCP either but probably better as a tab/section within the profile.

Sounds good i guess... But are there any plans for moving them into a dropdown menu?
The PMs are already inside the UCP. So i guess we could only just remove the link from the index and only access them from there.

If not... We could try to just leave the pm icon on index, or move the entire link before the FAQ link.

-1. Just because I have notifications doesn't mean I look through them. Plus if I have a ton of notifications the PM one will just be lost in there. If you find it redundant then perhaps the notification should be removed, but not the PM link.

It should be in 3.1 even if its release gets postponed a little. The new UI will look incomplete without it...

EDIT: and i think that the 3.1 is already enough postponed^^

By "new UI" I mean the group of changes that have already been introduced and those of pull requests that are expected to be merged.

If you try to picture the final result for 3.1, only a few things seem to haven't got much love - like the private messages link

Private Messages should remain as is. Members shouldn't have to dig through the UCP for quick access to Private Messages.
