No to #7 for the same reason PayBas pointed out. I like #1 personally. The search icon matches the one included. The "lightning" bolts just look weird to me.

My vote is for #7.

If that's not possible, then # 1.

as pointed out #7 is not an option unless we swap the the breadcrumbs with the primary navigation which is how we would avoid the issue. similar to

Image

as for the icons keep in wind that we are trying to plan towards switching to font-awesome when it comes to he icons https://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopi ... 53#p264953

with that said #1 and number #2 are not options as they rely on the old search icon.

so #3 through #6 become the only options

in that requard i would vote for 4 or 6

Are you saying the image you posted and asked everyone to vote on is not valid?

#4 is the best option imo. :)

#7 won't work because avatars go there too now.

The magnifying glass with the + inside it means enlarge/zoom, so that's no-go.

Not sure what the lightning bolt is supposed to mean (which isn't a great sign if one can't immediately tell the meaning from the icon alone)

I'd say #1 or #4
Has an irascible disposition.

The button next to the search is a dropdown containing the "quick links" (View unanswered posts, View unread posts, View new posts, View active topics, View your posts)

This is what I got so far. This is not a mockup, it's actual code.

I'm guessing that the only option under the cog is advanced search?

I still think this is the better option (just move it to the header):

If people don't like the cog (I'm personally ok with it, not a huge fan of the lightning though). Maybe we should go with fa-bars or fa-filter?
