"Parent" Usergroup

Post by FringeFestivalFan »

I apologize if this has been suggested already, but here's my suggestion.

I'm aware that some people use phpBB for their Group or Clan's forum, and have multiple usergroups, sometimes one "parent" group.
The option I'm suggesting is simple.
When creating a group (like a forum), you have the option to set the "parent" and then the "parent" group page, would show any "child groups" underneath the group leader and member listings of the "parent".

In some sense, the Registered Users group is the "parent" group and all other groups adjust permissions based on that.

Based on the clan reference, it sounds like you want to be able to create a hierarchy (tree structure) of groups. That would presumably prevent adding people in Clan B into a Clan A group, but I'm not sure that it's really necessary. The Clan leader doesn't get to control groups anyway (unless he's been made an Admin, and then he can control all of the groups).
