Well, the closest thing to an explanation is at the top of the index page (pure index, not forum index.) http://area51.phpbb.com/

thanx. However, my question was rather why it is called "area51" and not e.g. "area295". Is this "area51" a special expression in English?

search for "Groom Lake" and/or "area 51" and i'm sure you'll find some interesting results.
also mocked up in the film Independence Day. featured in many-an-X-Files...

Well, we used to use Granite Canyon for DNS, but they were just plain unreliable. We now use ZoneEdit, a little more reliable but a maximum number of queries or we get charged.
Usually, it isn't a problem, though, just because of caching nameservers. We also used Intrahost for hosting, but they had a maximum that we always went over, so we then switched to a private server with bandwith to spare.
Anyway, I use phpbb.sourceforge.net (just out of habit). And no, if you are using a standard QWERTY keyboard, phpbb.sourceforge.net has keys in all three rows.
Don't know about others (haven't taken the time to learn Davorak or any of the other keyboard layouts)... My lovely Mac can handle them all, though... And to prove it, I shall type the pound sign: £ There. I'm happy now. (I use the US QWERTY usually, without the pound sign, this is in it's place: #)

Yeah, I'm dougk_ff7. I have a sig. Just not here. It's huge. And a bandwidth monster.
Enough fragments?

Is one server faster then the other...? Or are they both exactly the same servers and speeds...
