[RFC|Merged] Breadcrumb microdata

Post by Arty »

I suggest to add itemtype="http://data-vocabulary.org/Breadcrumb" itemscope="" to all breadcrumb items.

What is it for? Search engines. It allows search engines separate content into categories, showing navigation in search results.

Example: compare area51 results with results of forum that uses microdata. Notice that Google shows navigation in search results for website that uses microdata.

It sounds interesting, although I am intrigued how it would handle the code in the template.
*Imagine a signature super spectacular.*

That's very easy. It requires just few minor edits in overall_header.html

Here is another example, this one uses phpBB 3.0 with my mobile style that also has microdata: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A ... kers.co.uk
