Re: [RFC] AJAX Quick Edit
New features like this will probably not be added into 3.1. We want to get that shipped as soon as possible, so generally only bug fixes and security patches will make it into 3.1. Any new features will be merged into 3.2.Prosk8er wrote:deff. think this should be added to 3.1

Really hope this makes it into 3.1 though. It would look nice on the feature list, and has been requested hundreds of times. Would help to get rid of the somewhat stale image that phpBB has developed.
If that pushes back RC1 by a few days... so be it.

phpBB's like the only forum software with no quick edit in its core :/ SMF has it....MyBB has it...

Also agree +1
Marc has actually been great about implementing this PR really fast!
If this gets put on the back burner, it might become one of those PRs that sits around forever, and goes stale. Besides that, 3.2 won't be for like...YEARS!
However, I still respect the ultimate decision of the developers.

Has an irascible disposition.

+1 also for me
Re: [RFC] AJAX Quick Edit
I totally understand that but how about finding a middle ground solution?imkingdavid wrote: New features like this will probably not be added into 3.1. Instead of waiting another year for new features in 3.2, why don't you gradually release 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.1.5 etc. after 3.1 is out? You can call them "feature releases" and release them like week after week (whenever you are ready that is).
That way you can occasionally implement a couple of long awaited features!

Re: [RFC] AJAX Quick Edit
New features brings instability and new bugs, we want to make sure that when we add new features that we have enough time to test them and make sure everything is working. We do not want to make every release include new features and major changes because this will result in a worse experience for everyone (which version do I have to use to fix X and Y issue?). This is common with some other software and causes major problems for all.
