Personally, I like them. Besides, this can already be done in 3.0.x - one of our Development Team members posted a hook you can use. Maybe The hook can be included in the phpBB package and if users want the pages back, they can remove the hook file?

Including a hook file in a default phpBB installation wouldn't really make sense. If there was going to be a way to remove it then it would need to be yet another ACP option (unlikely) or removing code.

I like them because I am on a very slow connection where it takes a couple seconds to load each page, and viewtopic takes longer than a "You have posted" page. Usually, I want to go straight back to the forum, and the post confirmation page gives me the choice.

The fastest connection in my area. You've got to bear in mind that a lot of countries don't have good speeds.

There are a lot of parts in Alaska, U.S., where they only have 56K connections or lower via old school dial-up. MetroPCS Cellular (USA) has a terrible Internet data rate, probably worse than a mid-level dial-up modem. Pit$bull on phpbb.com lives in the US and gets all of around 1.5 Mb/s on a "broadband" connection. Slow internet speeds is a rather prevalent issue around the US and I'm sure lots of other parts of the world.
