Thats right. Its not included on server by default and that needs to be installed. This can certainly be an issue for newbies and also not sure if shared host providers adds this if requested. If at all its included, there has to be an ACP option to enable it so admins who wants to use imagemagick can enable it. But then again, after DavidIQ's response, I am not sure if that will be of much use in phpbb's case.wintstar wrote:Imagemagick is not installed on each server and thus could lead to problems for most.

Re: [RFC] Default image resizing
Here is the related tracker ticket:
http://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-10543
I've just added a comment there. If we do include a JS image resizing solution it would need to have a default (maybe of "No resizing" or "Non-JavaScript resizing" option?). Question is which one to include?

Re: [RFC] Default image resizing
Since oversized images are already being handled through the responsive layout changes, I've created a new ticket to handle adding of a JavaScript resizing solution:
http://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-11962
This may or may not require another RFC though it might be ok to continue using this one that's already open.

Re: [RFC] Default image resizing
That nivo lightbox is OK but I don't like that the "X" to close the single images is far off in the corner. With HS, you can re-click the image to close it. I *do* like how it handles galleries but are we adding a gallery to the core too? Perhaps HS does something similar for galleries too, I don't know. I hope ReIMG ends up in the core regardless of which solution is chosen.

Ditto (considering it's 2014 and the ease of the web that people are now accustomed to)...Master_Cylinder wrote:... I hope ReIMG ends up in the core regardless of which solution is chosen.

Yeah, they shouldn't even have to resize avatars (or logos) before uploading these days...keith10456 wrote:Ditto (considering it's 2014 and the ease of the web that people are now accustomed to)...Master_Cylinder wrote:... I hope ReIMG ends up in the core regardless of which solution is chosen.
