Once you have built your website map its a idea to get it submitted to google.com/webmasters this way you can anaylse your sitemaps links and also your forums site on google

Sitemaps aren't really necessary for users but for search engines they're very useful.
Before adding a sitemp mod to my site it was very hard for me to find a topic on my site via Google. Since adding the sitemap the search results have improved ten-fold.
