AUTO restrict forum access via custom profile field?

For phpBB 3.04 -- Is there a way to AUTOMATICALLY restrict access to forums based on data collected in mandatory custom profile fields upon regisration? For example: Gender? (boolean) or other selection from a drop down menu?

Is this possible? Perhaps my question should be, can "Groups" be automatically assigned based on information collected via mandatory Custom Profile field filled upon registration?

I haven't seen a MOD made... I know I've definitely seen it requested. Searching isn't quite back to normal over there, but try checking out MOD forums at the main site.
