new to the forum

Hello all i am new to the board and new to the phpbb setup. I wanted to install it on my site. i had the phpbb2 on there before and it turned out to be a spam fest and i couldnt take it! i deleted it and i wanted to start again. so my question to you guys is how can i set this up so that its set to invite only. Its for my car club and i wanted to make a forum again for it for all of us to use. but i don't want another spam fest. i know how to set it up so that the admin can only turn the accounts on but i don't even want to do that anymore i want it so as soon as you go to the site it say
please log in
username
password

and thats all you see! unless invited by me or other members of the site. can anyone help me with that?

One option -

1. Deactivae the registratin by going to ACP -> User registration settings and change Account activation: to 'disable'
2. Install the ADD User MOD - http://startrekguide.com/community/view ... =30&t=1533
3. Set all forums to registered only for view and read.

You will add users manually and send them an email with the details. I think there may be an "Invitation Only" MOD as well.

ok i have the file downloaded but i don't see any steps on what i need to do to install it do you happen to have that?

ok i got it to work now i need to figure out how to set it up so only members can join up
