Hi,
helding a GLBT forum, I make heavy use of word censoring, to prevent swearing against religion.
I would see a great addiction or, better saying, correction to the current word censoring mechanism.
A checkbox can be added to the current panel to specify weather the word must be considered "as is" or without case sensitive behaviour.
I'll explain better my point
If a user writes "*beep* god", I can add that word to the censoring mechanism so that instead of "*beep* god" a "<swear>" is displayed. That is cool and works, untill the user is fair. But IF someone wants to circumvent the filter, he can write "*beep* GoD" or whatever combination of uppercase and lowercase, to make the filtering useless.
So adding the checkbox for the administrator to chose weather the word must be censored "as is" or without caring the case would surely help, so instead of adding 5 times a word with different case, you can simply add one word with the "case insensitivity feature". That would not help against things like "F U C K I N G G O D" but would help against deliberate case changing to circumvent filtering.
Hope my description does not hurt someone.

Word censors aren't case sensitive. If you censor the word "apple" the censor will (by default) catch apple, APPLE, APPle, aPpLe, etc.

Re: Word Censoring Filter
I am testing it now with mixed cases. Can someone with ACP access tell us whether these two words are entered once or with all possibile cases?
*beep* *beep*
Anyway put this in the forum rules, then if someone swears against religion just ban him. These people don't deserve any access to civil boards.
EDIT: Before anyone asks me: admins can see the words by clicking "Edit".

Drewtscott is correct, they are case insensitive. -- No need to test it here.drewtscott wrote:Word censors aren't case sensitive. If you censor the word "apple" the censor will (by default) catch apple, APPLE, APPle, aPpLe, etc.
