Regarding the phpbb software, I'm glad to see you allow
"Allow users to send you private messages: No[X]"
But then you say "Note that administrators and moderators will always
be able to send you messages."
Well that is too bad, as the user has indicated via his preferences
that he wants nothing to do with private messages, as he is an email
person, but nevertheless you worry him that there still will be
private messages, even though he wants it known that people are to use
his public email address to contact him.
P.S., I couldn't find the new post button here until I turned on images and javascript.
no private message even from admins

Re: no private message even from admins
If this is a bug, post it for me, I can't today as the bug site is down.
Also all email must be conducted thru your interface. It is almost as if you wanted
to snoop on their mails or make a buck on each message sent. You (phpbb latest version) don't
allow users to reveal their addresses except perhaps in signatures.

You cannot avoid being contacted by admins or mods, if they want, period.
False. You just have to turn off the option "Use the board to send e-mails" or something like that. This hides users' real e-mail addresses from other users.jidanni wrote:Also all email must be conducted thru your interface.

If you want to be notified by e-mail when you get a PM (from anyone), just select that in the UCP.
