We are working on it 24hours a day. Please be patient. As soon as we can say exactly at what point we are going to be back, you will know first.

we all appreciate all the work that is done for free to keep us all going.

It is curious however, why this is taking so long. I jokingly posted elsewhere, that I you could have rebuilt the whole building that the servers are housed in. That is now becoming true.

just curious, how can rebuilding the array and servers, or whatever, take a week to do?

thanks,
robert

Depending on how large the array is it can take a long time for them to resync off of a backup...

I certainly don't know anything about arrays, etc.

but a week?

I would think to transfer terrabytes of data could take a few days on a really slow system.

but a week?

and why can't I click on a smilie and have it display in my post here?

everytime I do, the page jumps to the top and no smilie.

anyone else having this problem here on this board?

rebuilding the array is more then just dumping the data on to the hard drives.

you also have to give it time for it to build the parity stripe and this can take quite some time.

thanks,
robert

Lumpy: They also had to rebuild the server, which, depending on how much the configuration has changed, may require a complete recompile of Apache/MySQL/PHP. In addition to that, syncing the RAID discs and checking all of them for possible damage (physical or file system), as well as shipping any hardware that may be needed can take awhile as well.
