I wasn't aiming that comment to this forum, it was a general comment about all forums, people in my opinion with low post counts are seen as noob, which is wrong.

and my reply still stands......if a new user shows they are very knowledgeable in the "subject" that forum deals with you will find in a lot of cases they are not referred to as "noob", well that is the case in most the forums I use.

I would second that, Karl... I have seen many forums where a user comes in with only one or two posts, and you can tell they are extremely knowledgeable about the subject they are discussing... if that is the case, they never get called a newbie.
I've also noticed that proper spelling and grammar can determine whether or not a person is called a newbie.

Re: Is Using "Newbie" Insulting?
I've never really noticed a forum where the phrase noob or what ever thing fomr it, is used.
I only notice it in games, as I play them a lot online.
Where noob is used in the context of:
'You silly person, why did you do that"
"Silly person, do you understand what the purpose of the game is, what your goal is"
or any other negative activity that simply ruins the game. If that is the case, I don't really mind.
But if someone is not as good as the others and is therefor called noob, then I don't think it is appropriate as sometimes the person cannot help the fact that they are not as good as the others.
