ModX + authentication
I think that ModX should be pre-installed in phpBB3. Also the guide should explain how to authenticate visitors on non-phpBB pages.

ModX is a standard for writing the installation routine and details of a mod. It's not a method of doing it. ModX != easyMod.
If I'm wrong then I apologise, but that's what I understand it to be.

Maybe he is confuseing it with the CMS ModX ?

Ah. I thought it was an easy way to install mods. Isn't there an easy way to install mods in phpBB3?

Well, there will be a mod called EaseyMod (it will work with ModX).
