Some Captcha's are far too easy

Post by Cheater512 »

I hate to be a pain in the butt but I've decided that some of phpBB 3's Captcha's are far too easy to crack.

I'll now go on a cracking spree (submitting my code to the Security Tracker of course) to prove it. :)

Stay Tuned.

That is a useless exercise.

If it's not computer readable, it's not human readable.

Rather than go on a cracking spree, it would be more beneficial to everyone to post a fix, or solve the problem.

In order to post a effective fix I need to crack it first. :)
Once its cracked then the flaws can be spotted and fixed.

Why not have some type of 3d rendering or some SIMPLE animation (floating) going on... to throw off the computers... even color shifting that would be hard to notice to people could throw off a pc...

How about a live webcam feed of a monkey holding up letters and random pictures of farm animals on 3x5 cards?  Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Whats stopping the attacker from splitting that sort of image into frames and then simply reading a single one into an OCR Program? :P

From all I have read it seems that animated captchas are easier to break than static ones..
