How about some stickies in this forum?

Post by asmith3006 »

I'm stunned with the recent advances of phpBB 3 etc etc.

Can one of the mods PLEASE make an "FAQ" thread or an "When is it coming? What's with the numbering? Why isn't karma in it? Why isn't there AJAX? Why isn't there a quick reply? Where can I make feature request? Where can I download it?" thread and make it a sticky/global announcement and lock it with the answers?

I've been keenly awaiting the final release for about a year and a half now and [yorkshire accent]if I had a penny for every time one of those questions had been asked I'd be a millionaire by now[/yorkshire accent]

Keep up the good work, I can't wait :D

People don't read them... it's like urinating (sic) into the wind. ;)

bwhahahahahahaah, funny but true! how about haveing members read an anouncement or sticky the moment they log in here at the dev-board. they have to sign it otherwise they can't do anything in the forum?! i remember there was a mod for phpbb2 out there who did something like that.
((perfect timing-_-, i wasnt able to log in this weekend cuz Dad thinks this site is bad and that your all the spawn of Satan....hmm go figure^_^))

Have you ever installed software? Have you ever had to agree to a license agreement (by clicking some radio button)? Have you ever read one of those license agreements?

Right... ;)

your so mean to me Image

yeah i know what your saying. but it gets tiresome to read the same question over and over again for devs. there has to be a way to eliminate the standart questions.

Maybe write this questions at Forum Rules using bold font and after them give link to a FAQ.

Or, to register you have to go to a page which is a quiz with multiple choice questions:
1. When will phpBB 3 be out?
a) It already is
b) Next week
c) When it's finished which no body knows

2. What is the difference between Olympus phpBB 2.1,2.2,3.0?
a) They're different colours
b) They're nicknames for different smurfs
c) Nothing, they're all for the same software

3. Will there be a converter available?
a) No, the devs want to make it as hard as possible for people to migrate
b) Yes, but you'll have to pay £50 for it
c) Yes and it'll be available with the Release Candidate

4. Will cashmod be part of the core package?
a) Yes, but the devs have decided that they wont add it until the gold release to spice things up a bit
b) No, it's a mod, the clue is in the last three letters

etc.

I think this could help :)

Andrew.

PS. I know it wont be done, I'm only joking. If you did put it up there people would then fill the boards with questions like "Is this a new feature of phpBB?"

It would be a great feature for forums like this where to gain access a certain IQ is required. ;)

Does anyone read license agreements? Altough, I think there's a tool you can download to scan them or something lol
