It appears that you probably have the notify by email tick box set in your UCP. You might want to go into your UCP and unsubscribe to all the watched topics, and also recheck all your notify settings (i.e., notify on private messages, notify on topic replies, etc.)
To the dev team, I sure would like to see the notifies turned off by default when a person registers. Mostly on the topic replies, and perhaps the PMs as well. In 2.0.xx all user settings were on one screen and it was very easy for a new member to see these and change them. But now with the multi-level, muti-feature, multi-screen UCP, its probably more likely that these will be over looked and there will be a few dis-gruntled new members who respond like the above users who haven't waded thru all the settings and screens. I myself had a flood of emails too, but beeing familiar with phpBB, I knew what was happening and fixed my UCP.
Suspecting beta release very very soon!

Well...
1) as was quoted above, you must uncheck the "Send me an email when a reply is posted" box if you don't want to get any emails for that specific topic that you are replying to.
2) If you don't want to get ANY emails for ANY topics on the entire board, than you need to go to the UCP > Preferences > Posting Messages, and set the "Notify me upon replies by default:" to "off"
3) It would be nice if there was an option in the UCP that would enable you to select one notification for a reply UNTIL you visit the thread (same as phpBB2x) OR to select a notification for EVERY reply, (my preference)
4) This is NOT a bug. I have tested it on the latest CVS on my board.

Furthermore, I would expect it to be fully possible to set board defaults so that new users get these settings exactly the way you think they want them

It is... except I can not, for the life of me, find out where the forum default is for "Notify user on reply" in the ACP!Eelke wrote: Furthermore, I would expect it to be fully possible to set board defaults so that new users get these settings exactly the way you think they want them![]()
Short of setting it in the MySQL database by hand. (which may be my only option lest someone here knows where it is hiding!)

In any project you can have :NNO-Stephen wrote:they're doing a fine job, but "fast" is not an adjective I'd associate with the pace of development :pHighway of Life wrote: Man, I know!

...and NEVER all three
Re: Suspecting beta release very very soon!
That feature appeared enabled by default for me. Try going into your preferences and clicking the last subgroup (posting messages) in there. It will be the last option.Highway of Life wrote:It is... except I can not, for the life of me, find out where the forum default is for "Notify user on reply" in the ACP!Eelke wrote: Furthermore, I would expect it to be fully possible to set board defaults so that new users get these settings exactly the way you think they want them![]()

That's sort of implied by the "pick two" part of the formula.profpete wrote: ...and NEVER all three![]()
You can never go home again... but I guess you can shop there.

Ubuntu Linux (or insert another good distro here, but Ubuntu has a short release cycle).
