Is Olympus stable enough, and are there going to be any changes to the DB setup? What I want to know is if I can start working on a new forum, setting up all the background stuff, like forum titles, descriptions, permissions, get familiar with the ACP, etc... and when the stable Betas come out, all I have to do is load up the new files, and not have to do anything to the database. Are we at this stage yet?
Thanks
Rusty

Re: How stable is it now?
i would have thought that they can not say if there will be changes to the db, i mean something could come up which needs a change unexpectedly and there would be no support for these changes as its not even beta. I would strongly advise against using it other then as a test forum so you can see how it works. I would not start building a new board round it yet, you really would be inviting trouble.

Simple answer: We are not at that stage yet. When we are at that stage it will be announced.
phpBB, its open source, become involved, write a modification!

Re: How stable is it now?
ok i thought i would not start a new post on this as this post seems more suited.
okay first off i been following this new forum for a while now as i going to port it to phpnuke as nuke 8.0 developer i was also incharge of an original forum but thats was a bad choice as phpbb is the only thing keeping it alive so i started a project with many people to port phpbb 3.0
well cut the story short i come accross many security issues with this version what do i do ? as i have the fix also for it as there a number of xxs and ddos exploits
but as the project seems to be wip i thought i should not worry basailly i use the current cvs writting up changes to make it work until this is released as beta or release build is ready basailly get this out around the same time you release final so it will encorage mod developers.
and with the mod developing not is it safe to make phpbb 3.0 mods ?
i was thinking releasing some mods like a arcade for phpbb support for flash and swish files and possible support for cash mod when they port it or i be willing to make a points system if it came to it.
or if you guys would like any help i be more then happy to help as i have excellent skills in php , mysql and seo
many thanks to all the developers of phpbb
Steve

The phrase "stable betas" is an interesting one.

It must be stable enough because we are using Olympus right now on this forum board.

stability is one thing, functionality (in the sense of it functioning) is another matter entirely.yexusbeliever wrote: It must be stable enough because we are using Olympus right now on this forum board.
