Hello,
I didn't see a forum watch feature beeing implimented in the core of upcoming new version. It would be really great for people who needs this kind of option.
For those who don't know what is forum watch, it's like topic watch, but it sends email to the user who which to be notified for a new topic added inside the forum.
Here is the mod done for phpbb : http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=281234 for more example.
In addition to this mod, it would be nice if the admin could force some users, or some specific groups to receive notifications for new reply and for new posts for some parts of the forum. Why not it the core version of Phpbb insteed of another mod?!
Thx
Forum Watch!

Re: Forum Watch!
while viewing a forum (not a topic) look in the upper left corner of the inner frame for "subscribe forum".
try to press it and see what happens.

Re: Forum Watch!
god your right, But we have to look hard to see it!!!
I was looking for this option and didn't see it, so what about someone who is not really searching for it.
+ is this possible or not?

Im not sure of the exacting featurelist, it would be nice to have that option but im guessing its not going to be on there as its not been implemented yet to my knowledge.. saying this the 3.x featurelist is frozen, so no more features can be added but 3.2 feature requests will begin when 3.x is finished..

imo, that would constitute suplying forum operator with spaming tool. i dont think it is such a great idea. forcing anyone who doesnt ask for it to receive unsolicited mail is agains accepted netiquette, and i dont think phpbb should supply tools for this kind of activity.killerfrogs wrote: In addition to this mod, it would be nice if the admin could force some users, or some specific groups to receive notifications for new reply and for new posts for some parts of the forum. Re: Forum Watch!
well could be in the liscence agreement for some category.
By example, people of a comete that needs to receive instant information about what's happening in the development but don't want to care about activating notification on every topic and forums. At least it may be in the user profile.

You can select to automatically subscribe to a topic when you reply to it.killerfrogs wrote: By example, people of a comete that needs to receive instant information about what's happening in the development but don't want to care about activating notification on every topic and forums. Re: Forum Watch!
Ok
But I just had a look at that feature with this account and saw there is no way of specifying which forums and topics notification, but the whole forum or nothing.
If by example if I would like to be notified for this particular section of the forum : viewforum.php?f=4, the only way that opens to me is to look at every post and click for notification and click the notification for the new post in this category.
The way I see it would be more like : A grill with every section and post appears in user control panel or everywhere in the main windows then user click or unclick which topic to be notified to. So it would be fast and no subject would be forgotten.
