it seems to have an awful lot of new features, but it also seems to have cleaned up a lot of the old code so i'm not sure which way it will fall ??:|??
it makes me reluctant to upgrade, though i've considered backporting some of the features into 2.0 on my own when the software reaches closer to completion
will this board put a heavier load on system resources?

Current evidence suggests that even with all the extra features it holds up much better than 2.0.x

You'll be able to turn off many features to lighten the load, too. Server-side marking, for example, can be disabled.
You can never go home again... but I guess you can shop there.

Olympus takes less recources than 2.0.
You can find proof for this by looking at this server. It not only hosts this forum, but also a very big forum with a lot of activity. But the person who hosts area51 does not want credit, so you will have to find out yourself what this forum is... Anyway, as you can see, the forum is very fast, despite some load being on the server.

Where on earth do people keep getting this silly idea from?SargeTron wrote: Wait a minute... this is the same machine as gaia online!?!?!
The phpBB Team, and only us, manages all it's own servers with a domain name of *.phpbb.com.

People hear the term "another large board" and immedietly assume the largest possible board on the internet.SHS` wrote:Where on earth do people keep getting this silly idea from?SargeTron wrote: Wait a minute... this is the same machine as gaia online!?!?!

You're not going to get the answer guessing, and the phpBB team has specifically asked that it not be mentioned. So even if you were to stumble upon the correct one, I certainly would recommend complying with their wishes. It's not difficult to determine if you know what you're doing.chrisMc wrote: bokt.nl?

I wasn't just guessing- I had significant reason for my choice. I didn't know that the phpBB team requested it not be mentioned, otherwise I would have left it alone. You're not going to get the answer guessing, and the phpBB team has specifically asked that it not be mentioned.
