I just found this remarkable tool in Invision Pro Board, it is where you can archive your PM messages so you dont have to completely lose them, it emails them to your email address.
Does phpbb 3 have this?
Private Messages Archiver?

Re: Private Messages Archiver?
As of now, it doesn't. But area51 lets you have a max of 50 messages (quite a bit in my opinion) which should be plenty. I think this is adjustable in the ACP.

Re: Private Messages Archiver?
Why not just copy + paste them into a text file? Much better than having them in an email account which may not be unlimited space.

That is kinda what IPB does for you. Look out for a MOD that will add the functionality sooner or later. Don't expect it to be in phpBB 3.x itself, though.TheMole wrote: Why not just copy + paste them into a text file? Much better than having them in an email account which may not be unlimited space.
Re: Private Messages Archiver?
Because copying and pasting 50 separate PM's is not an easy job my friend. I much rather have the board compile them, send it in HTML format, or Excel spreadsheet and then I save it.TheMole wrote: Why not just copy + paste them into a text file? Btw, for an admin of game forums and the likes, 50 pm's is NOT substancial. And to have to delete some to make room is not too great.
Not only for admins, but for some important users aswell.
Re: Private Messages Archiver?
Then make the limit higher than 50; it's done in the admin panel!

Re: Private Messages Archiver?
I've seen a MOD for phpBB2 that removes pm limit for admins ...

Sorry if I dig up this topic...
Now PM can be archived in CSV format and XML, but still not in HTML. There is at least a way to convert XML in HTML?
Thank you

Re: Private Messages Archiver?
There is an in-built PHP Function that will convert XML to HTML, however I have never used it and to be honest I wouldnt expect it to be a great success.. Mainly because it would need some sort of judgement on actual content and context of data to be able to display it..
