Why not Beta

Post by Jotne »

Why not change to CSV to Beta for Olympus?
It seems much more stable compare to what Microsoft gives out in Beta.

Well you are right. The CVS even seems to me more stable than the finals of any microsoft software ;).

But the dev team is still working on it and there could be major code changes. I believe thats the reason ;)

Because it's incomplete and there alot of errors/bugs in it, you might not have noticed it but I sure did.

For example you are currently in: Board Index >> phpBB related >> Discussion now press the phpBB related link and see what happens

Or hold your mouse over the edit button for a while, and it will not say Edit this post, but it will say EDIT_POST which probaly means an undeclared variable. So as you can see the code is far from complete in my opinion.

Actually it's not, go ahead and install a CVS copy, then try the things out I just said, or go to your UCP for example and it will look like this:

* » Ucp main front
* » Ucp main subscribed
* » Ucp main bookmarks
* » Ucp main drafts

Which in my opinion probaly isn't the intention, because other parts like Private messages dont have the Ucp in front of it however I could be mistaken.

Stuff like the edit post and ucp parts are just language files yet to be defined though rather than massive code changes.

At a guess the major code change atm is the search feature with it being down and such.

What a backwards type of way of reporting bugs ;)

I suppose, in many ways, area51 is a beta in itself. It is being tested by the (client side) public 24/7, after all. Please don't throw things at me 8O

Worse still, the Upgrade script doesnt even look like it's started yet, so beta may take longer than any impatient person can stand.
