Not asking for a date, just if the final is released within the next weeks or months according to what you folks know? That would be a nice guide value.
And I receive the impression that some guys seem to believe that the beta cycles will only last some days or something like that. Well, I don't think this is very funded, don't ya agree?!
The old question ... when? ;)

There is no release date, and no release date will be given. No "ballpark" can be given or is known. It is close, yes. But asking is of no value.

Oh my God! There is no release date? Did I ask for one? No! Btw I know there is none and the developers bla bla ... nothing new.
And you can't give a ball-park figure? That's amazing if I think of your "it's near" words. Then how can you tell me it's near??? Let me ask: What is near 4 you while you seem to know that v2.2 is approaching? Or is "near" here only a value which is calculated from the time passed by since beginning of dev on 2.2? Gee! I just ask for a possible likelihood based on experience if the new board might be released for example by the end of January or September if you get what I mean. I know it's at the end of its milestone phase and maybe you know how long beta cycles usually are referring to phpbb but I guess you dunno.

Re: The old question ... when? ;)
This is not the first thread asking for a release date, a period of time till release and so on... (I'd rather guess one would find several hundred threads...)
Just accept, that no date or any more exact time than "soon" will be given and be happy when it arrives. If the developers would give you a hint, there would be 100 other people asking to get an even exacter date...
And what, if something unexpected happens and the release would be delayed? Yes, hundreds of users including you would flame here...
Getting angry helps noone, just be patient...

Nothing... the release date will remain the same ... £@¥e®Pallando wrote:And what, if something unexpected happens and the release would be delayed?

Re: The old question ... when? ;)
It is impossible to give you a good estimate. If the developers had one week off work and family, one week they would entirely spend on phpBB 2.2, I assure you a beta could be available at the end of that week.
But see, there are too many factors. The developers are currently caught up in their real jobs. This might cool down over Christmas and New Years, but then there is family. It is impossible to foresee and we gave up on estimates and deadlines a long time ago.
2 months ago, a December beta sounded realistic, if the work situation and the time the devs could spend on the project would continue as it was then. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.

People, why don't you just keep up to date on what work is going on... Sign up for the email on latest check-ins to monitor the progress and see what is going on.
Currently there are still major problems with global announcements for one.
It's not that hard to get an idea of how far out we are if you just take the time look into the question yourself and stop bugging the developers.
