I think the release will be made Within March 2007, eheh..

I think there will be one more beta (B6) before end of march and a release end of april or beginn of may. My guess is we will see two RC and than the gold-release.

More than three years after this thread was started, phpBB 3 is still not released. We're now only three months from the latest date it is possible to enter into http://www.neothermic.com/phpbb_pool/entry.php - so if there's not a final release in the next three months, the entire contest will have to be scrapped and started all over *again*.

Looks like my last guess from December 2005 might not be too far off base:

Incidentally, if it happens this will be the third time in a row that the contest has had to be scrapped.

Who would have thought, way back when phpBB 2.0 was first released, that it'd have to wait over five and a half years for a successor? (That's a milestone we'll be passing next month).

Well, I do think it will be worth it.

Many paid developers would already release it and fix the critical bugs, if any should appear(i don't know of any in phpBB now). See the latest commits, it's only cosmetics and fixing up potentional security weaknesess, we're getting to the finish here I hope :)

Btw. I tipped beggining of November to be an optimist :-)

In my opinion, phpBB 3.0.0 will be released on Saturday, November 24th, 2007.

Ah, I've should of thought about that, they always release on weekends, hope AcydBurn will get a day off on Monday :D

I picked Fri, Nov 24th 2007 because, as ameeck said, it is a Friday, and historically there have been more releases on a weekend, and the other reason being, it's 1 month before Christmas, and they would want some time to celebrate Christmas and what not, plus it will be their Christmas gift to the world ;)
