They may make it down the chimney, but the bag is likely to be empty
** Being somewhat patient, I'd rather it be clean and complete with core functions running nicely, good performance, robust, stable, and secure for the final release. We may be lucky IMO to get a 3.0 beta by Christmas if they decide to take in some of the new community efforts... But they may decide to postpone those new community features and just focus on the current core features (what ever they are
) of Olympus 3.0 and get the beta out before Christmas; my guess is already passed again for this thread for this year, but it would make me happy to see beta progess by Christmas 2005... **

I'm guessing (possibly incorrectly) that for a final release to be avaliable this year, Beta 1 would need to be released within the next month. Reasonable, or not?

I would have to agree..the_dan wrote: I'm guessing (possibly incorrectly) that for a final release to be avaliable this year, Beta 1 would need to be released within the next month. Reasonable, or not?
Re: The new phpBB version - Guess the Release Date Competit
I agree and disagree with that...
First off, the BETA stages though I would agree with.. it would at least start the bug reporting process so those can get fixed over time as the BETA's become into the RC stages. Which RC is the next stage when everything is pretty much finalized but still needs some touching up here and there.
Now, the final release I disagree with.. for the simple fact that we only have 4 months left of this year so, I'd expect a final to be released at sometime next year if I'm correct. But, this is just me..

Someplace where it's dark, someplace where it's quiet, I feel at home... I have nowhere to go any longer, as that's what I desire.

I personaly think this is ready for beta, there's only one bug I've noticed on this board
Re: The new phpBB version - Guess the Release Date Competit
This board is not a fair representation of the current CVS at all. There is a fairly big difference between this board and what is in CVS. If you have Google Accelerator, you can't use phpBB as an admin (or nearly at all) in CVS because HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR support is gone. That is one difference between this board and what is in CVS. Do not try to compare the two, this board has some older tech on it that would make it more stable.who_cares wrote: I personaly think this is ready for beta, there's only one bug I've noticed on this board

I have a somewhat recent CVS copy on my server too. I'm not basing everything I see on this board
