[POLL] New Default skin?

Hi, I have been lurking here for a while and I just registered.

In my opinion the key word here is "past".
While the subBlue skin is nice its becoming old, I think that 2.2 deserves a new skin release.

what do you think?

subblue is phpbb, at least that what I think. You know imediately what board someone is running when you see that style or one that has been derived off of it. I think there is plenty in this new release of phpbb that someone visiting it for the first time will say to themselves, hey this IS something new.

Well think about it, IPB 2.0 - new default skin, VB 3.0 - new default skin.

I'm not suggesting something totally different, but I still think something new is in order. Especially since 2.2 will have a new skinning engine/system.

the theme is looks different to me. anyway there is no shortage of theme designers, and it will not be a problem to get different theme once phpbb2.2 is released.

Also why are you comparing freeware to non freeware board.

I personally like the bubble look of the 2.0x forum than the wanna be half-bubble almost professional look of 2.x. Seems like this version can't decide what it wants to be.

Dont see how it matters if the board is freeware or not.
I understand your point, branding 'etc but thats my point as well!

I'm not saying there should be an entirely new and different skin.

a [bad] example would be microsoft windows XP.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but a newer version of the same skin to go with a never version of the board makes sense to me.

One thing I do like is the outlined stationary crumbtrail, seems to take after my site for 2.0.10.
