"View Source" not working or disabled
"View Source" not working or disabled
I wanted to see how the template was assembled, and why/how sometimes when i try and highlight certain sections of the page, entire blocks are highlighted, not just table data. Just wondering how the template looks code wise after compilation. ?
Re: "View Source" not working or disabled
View SOurce is not disabled here in any way.
What you are seeing is a bug in IE most likely. Clear the cache and then try again.

... and I guess you tested in Internet Explorer on all platforms, despite being told it's an issue with Internet Explorer?hater wrote:So far it doesn't work at work, here at home, or on my buddies mac. Hrmm..

Re: "View Source" not working or disabled
Indeed it is a known bug in Internet Explorer. However you can get around
this bug by using the following command...
Type the following into the address bar:
view-source:http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB22/index.php
Replace the URL with the once you want to view the source of. It will download
the file and open it in Notepad for you.
Please note however that, as it has been said, it is not in anyway related to
phpBB but is a bug in Internet Explorer.

Or get a normal browser that doesn't have such weird bugs:

lol... wow... Bad day SHS`?SHS` wrote:... and I guess you tested in Internet Explorer on all platforms, despite being told it's an issue with Internet Explorer?
To reiterate....

Tried that, didn't work. Get off my back.
I don't remember asking for a IE vs other browser debate either, but if you'd like to turn this topic into that (which appears the case) let me know.
Given the response I can only be left to assume that because this is IE's problem and not yours, there's no work-around planned? Because you expect microsoft to bend to the will of your loyal followers? Perhaps this is a question that's been beaten to death and I missed that in my search to warrant such "shutup we told you so" response?
I am left with "Hmmmph" as all I really have to say.
However, thanks for the suggestions at getting my answer regardless of attitude, and thanks to upsTex for actually answering my silly little question.

Hardly a "bad day" response... perhaps you've just got thin skin or get into a huff when you don't get the answer you want to hear?hater wrote: lol... wow... Bad day SHS`?
IE has some of the weirdest browser quirks when web applications are working the way they should be and well noticed had you just done a little bit of background research before asking.hater wrote: To reiterate....

You would have also found that aside from clearing your cache... viewing source whilst the page is loading will work too.
As for other browsers debate... you should do it for your country as your governments says you should ditch IE too. Consider it your patriotic duty:

I suppose it is my mistake to assume I would receive friendly moderation from an opensource free fora also?
I wasn't fishing for any answer. There was no right or wrong there to even presume that it was an answer I was or was not looking for. As much as I am greatful for the work that is put into phpBB, I am also thankful for your descending attitude as it reminds me of why I enjoy programming so much; to eventually take over the hardass cranky people that seem to have lost their willingness to provide the moderation they seem to have somehow weasled there way into, even on an opensource product.
So, we can continue getting the last word on one another as long as we'd like, which seems to take place quite a bit on this devboard after reviewing some heated debates, however the eventuality is that I will be banned if I become a nuescence so I digress and suggest this topic be locked as it seems the ultimate answer is that I am a retard for using IE and asking a pretty simple question that searching here specifically didn't answer.
Going forward I'll try and remember that we're not really here to benefit from each other, but rather to point out the foibles of those that haven't been involved with things day in and day out since the beginning.
