1. I think the question that everyone is really excited about is when the first stable release of the new platform will be available to the public?
2. I currently have a perfectly running and fully modded phpbb 2.06 with a huge database of over 7000 posts and 211 members. When the new platform is released will there be a seamless process of backing up the DB from 2.06 and restoring it in 2.2 etc.? Because it would be a shame to lose all my data.
Thanks guys..
I really appreciate any responses.

Re: Two Questions about the new version of phpBB..
Yes, I'm sure this will be possible. I have 142,019 posts and 2,420 users on my forum, and I doubt phpBB users would be happy if they had to lose all their posts to use 2.2!dominick32 wrote:2. Keep up the good work, developers!

4500 users and 300,000 posts for mine. Be aware that larger boards may take a significant amount of time to move over to a new format. Importing my current database into a test database took close to an hour from the command line.orudge wrote:I have 142,019 posts and 2,420 users on my forum, and I doubt phpBB users would be happy if they had to lose all their posts to use 2.2!
You can never go home again... but I guess you can shop there.

Thanks Dick!DoD wrote:A little bit of reading would have found you these answers...
There has to be assholes on every board right..
I guess I should just erase everything I posted for you.

Its just that you are the 4,794th person to post that exact question give or take a few hundred. This is free software and the developers are sick of being asked that and I understand.

Well. I work for a living, I didnt look through any posts for my answers. I just registered and asked two simple questions thats all. I didnt expect to get upsetting responses.
Re: Two Questions about the new version of phpBB..
Hows it upsetting? How it any way aggressive?
I'm simply stating that these answers are easily found here. There is no need to ask them and wait a round for a reply - their here for you to read.

You see. That was much better. Now you sound like a normal human being having conversation. I might have jumped the gun a little before but only because I thought you were being a jerk to me. I understand completely and didnt mean to come off as one of 5000 other people asking the same question.DoD wrote:Hows it upsetting? How it any way aggressive?

I just didnt have the time to read the boards and figured I would give it a shot asking some of the currently logged on users.
Anyway. I am just REALLY EXCITED FOR THIS NEW VERSION TO COME OUT!
Sorry for stirring up this thread. My fault.
