I was going to tell him don't act like a wannabe mod, but I've been accused of that too, so I silently left it out :P.

bjarne, in fairness to you, I would think that since you started this thread, you'd have a right to mention that you think it has outlived its usefullness. Again, just my opinion. :)

Though if you think I'm wrong, it's not against the rules to have fun. I'm not dissing you or something.

People may be using 2.1 live, but it can't really be called 2.2 until the developers release it as 2.2.

I'm not sure about the release of phpBB 2.2 in 2004. They work now for seven months on milestone 3. If milestone 4 will take the same time, it's january and the beta test is still undone. If there are bigger problems (better expect them, so you arn't dissapointed), the release will pushed back again...

Again? When was it pushed back the first time?

I trust Paul to be telling us the truth, and 2.2 will be out before the end of the year. I imagine he knows much more about the state of development than you or I. If he lied.. well, I'll promptly be at his residence with tar and some old pillows. ;)

I think it will be 2004 too. If they didnt think it would be 2004, then they wouldnt say 2004. If it was not realistic, then they wouldnt have it as their "official" estimate.

Well, just hope for Milestone 4 to be a relatively small milestone, and it should be released this year. Or at least the RCs.
