Once all 4 milestones have passed, it'll become beta... but still might be a little time before a "Beta 1" is released, which would be the first version of phpBB2.2 that will be supported for early adopters/testers.snw wrote:Isn't that for completion of milestone 3 or 4? And is this considered alpha or pre-alpha?

So, this is alpha? Because I saw some people saying pre-alpha. I can't find it now because search is fuxed, but I seem to remember about that date being when we reached beta stage, and not the final release.

I thought it was stable.VxJasonxV wrote:You installed it for stable? What?trenzterra wrote:YNot worth the time! I installed 2.1.2 for stable and something went wrong.
I think it was supposed to be released somewhere last year, development was quite fast until M2.
Those guys said probably by this year, but it seems over optimistic, we're still at M2, and there's still M3, M4, Betas and RCs to go...
BTW the quote buttons should be shown even though I didn't log in, faster this way.

We are pretty close to M3, from there to M4 it is not a wide step.trenzterra wrote:I think it was supposed to be released somewhere last year, development was quite fast until M2.

Yeah, hopefully it seems like this. But there are still lots of bugs in this forum though and the devs haven't commited anything to CVS the last few days. But hey, phpBB 2 is good as it is.dhn wrote:We are pretty close to M3, from there to M4 it is not a wide step.trenzterra wrote:I think it was supposed to be released somewhere last year, development was quite fast until M2.

Oh the joys of writing code in functions and then being able to re-use it ehdhn wrote:We are pretty close to M3, from there to M4 it is not a wide step.
Re: Database conversion 2.0 -> 2.1/2.2
Judging from the 2.1.2 board I have up and running and the 56 tables that are in the database I would surmise the 2.0.x database will be upgraded. What I'm curious about is how the update script will affect databases that have been altered from installing MODs.
Will it overwrite all those changes, thereby leaving us with a fresh 2.2 database?
or
Will it just overwrite the values in the tables that are native to a vanilla installation, thereby leaving the changes made from the MODs intact but nonusable?

Fear is the mindkiller.
Re: Database conversion 2.0 -> 2.1/2.2
The update will simply convert a 2.0.7 vanilla database to 2.2 Nothing more, nothing less. I assume anything which can be kept, will. MODs in the database which are features in 2.2 won't be converted, as these are unsupported by phpBB.
