Delete yourself

Post by [cR@zY]Null »

Well I have this as a mod right now. I've heard this will NOT be in 2.2 is this correct? Cause I find it plain stupid that you can sign up a forum but NOT delete yourself from it :)

For those who are hoping to get sponsors to offset hosting costs (or make a profit), allowing users to delete themselves would hurt. One of the biggest questions is how many page views followed by how many registered users. Heck, users that are kicked off (banned) are still registered users :).

I do realize that for some people, it's a feature you like, just showing you the other side of the coin.

I don't believe we've made any comment on giving users the ability to remove themselves.

There's a slight chance that should this request be made at the correct location, it might be considered.

I'm not in favor of this feature anyway. This opens up the possibility for users to sign up as members, remove themselves, sign up again, need I continue. The next thing is that the feature should be expanded to be able to remove all posts for this user also. And of course a record should be kept that this is a self-deleted user. Who knows what else will come up?

I do agree that a member should be able to request his deletion (including some acceptable reasoning) but PMs or mail suit fine for this purpose. I think this should cover the legal aspect that in some countries a forum user must be able to unsubscribe himself (since no mention is made of a method with which to achieve this :D )
Procrastination is my hobby, but I keep on postponing it.

Hmm, well why should the post of a user be deleted if he deletes himself?

And why should anyone sign up -> delete himself -> sign up -> delete himself etc etc.

My forum already has this delete option (phpbb mod used). Take a look at http://www.crazyclan.nl/forums" target="_blank sign up and delete yourself if you like.

Further more, where and how can I put a request about this option?

There's a link to the Feature Requests Tracker on the idnex page of this forum. U'll need to sign up over at Sourceforge and sign in.
