Just as a notice.
There are still bugs here, this board is still in active development.
You will find different bugs from here on out.

But I agree, this board is looking amazing so far, and I've been around since Milestone 1.

Take the time to read the FAQ, read the announcements, descriptions, and so on. There's a lot of really cool things around here.

Have fun!

No, your wrong ;)

The features will be completed before beta testing... This is still developmental and things aren't even meant to be finished yet

phpBB 2.2 isn't at a beta stage yet. It is far before that. It is in development, so is is an Alpha. After te Alpha you get the beta, then you get release candidates (I think that this is the time to start with mods and styles) and then you have the release. But it is very far from that date :(

The beta stage is used to iron out more obscure bugs that cannot be detected during coding time. Features are complete and as they should be at that point. After enough bugs, a release candidate is put out to iron out more obscure bugs.

The term alpha implies known bugs and/or an incomplete feature set.

Where can you sign up to become a release candidate?

There is no need to "sign up". Release Candidate simply denotes a version which will be made available for download before the final release.

A Release Candidate is generally feature frozen (ie whatever is in it will be in the final release) and hopefully reasonably bug-free, although it will probably have a few.

It is essentially a final testing phase before the product is released
