Can't you update the censoring? So, that every letter get's blanked with a star/asterisk? Then we can censor **beep**, without getting *beep* blanked like ****?

Re: Know this's wrong, but...
Okay...Let's say, that "color" should be blanked out with stars/aterisk (*)
Then I'll write color, and it's change with ***** by the autocensor.
Now comes the problem: The Admins has agreed, that "colorcode" also should be blanked out. They write "color*" becuase that's the easiest. (follow me that far?
)
Then I'll write colorcode, and it gets changed with *****.
Can't you make it so every letter gets blanked out? So that's the deafult. Tell me again, if you donm't understand
I'm requsting this because I want my community to understand the post, even if the word's blanked out...Not just beep or so!

Re: Know this's wrong, but...
Do you mean a four letter censored word would change to four stars **** and a six letter censored word would change to six stars ******? Or am I not understanding the question?

Re: Know this's wrong, but...
I understand you! I've been wondering the same thing...
On my board, the only thing I really want to censor is the "f-word" and all variations thereof (f***er, f***ing, motherf***er, etc). Now, because many people are creative with their swearing, they may combine words or make up new ones that include the one I want to censor. The only way to censor all of them is to use wildcards, but then any word that contains f*** gets replaced with ####, no matter how many letters are in the word that is being censored. This makes censored phrases really confusing to read.
Does this make sense now?
It would be nice if the censor function replaced ONLY those four letters in any word that contained them, and it would be very, very nice if 2.2 had this possibility.

That's where feature requests need to go.

Wouldn't that just make it easier for the person to translate what the original word was?
I did a tech support board that replaced all "bad" words with a censored smiley which I would attach but I see attachments have been disabled.
I understand what you are talking about but I can think of about 1,000 other more useful features I would impliment before that one. Just an opinion.

If you want to see the ofending word, all you have to do is click the quote button. The text will appear for you uncensored.

Not in 2.0.x it won't ... and if it does here, it's an oversight I'll be reminding Acyd needs fixing
