Not debating. Just info I found.
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.ph ... ht=wysiwyg" target="_blank
This version (Knowledge Base MOD (v. 2.0.2)) features:

- all standard kb 0.76 features, see original thread .

But also:

[x] wysiwyg feature (tinymce)
Might be of interest to some.

This MOD, as it is coded is open to XSS.

Implementing WYSIWYG for all is not as easy as it seems. There should be something in the server side to filter the content.

Well, by a definition of semi-wysiwyg HotEditor is a semi-wysiwyg and is already a mod for phpBB 2.0.X.
.
I am not talking about dfcms' add-on I mean the default bbcode... its not wysiwyg but its way better than what phpbb has now.

It is the BBCode Box mod arranged differently. We already have that installed as our Standard Editor.

It does nothing to solve the issues I showed in my example of posting complex definitions and similar.

Hope that helps clear that one up.

Yes. Better than phpBB default. But not a solution. :D

 So true!

If you missed it I will not repeat the whole thing. Just the example that is just one aspect of the bigger picture of all user uses.

Here is a sample wysiwyg from my site:
Here is that same material using the editor here.
Strong's Number: 01004 Browse Lexicon
Original Word Word Origin
tyb probably from (01129) abbreviated
Transliterated Word TDNT Entry
Bayith TWOT - 241
Phonetic Spelling Parts of Speech
bah'-yith Noun Masculine

Definition
house
house, dwelling habitation
shelter or abode of animals
human bodies (fig.)
of Sheol
of abode of light and darkness
of land of Ephraim
place
receptacle
home, house as containing a family
household, family
those belonging to the same household
family of descendants, descendants as organized body
household affairs
inwards (metaph.)
(TWOT) temple adv
on the inside prep
within
I think the point is self explanatory about the loss of clarity in this simple issue of a definition.

Now add in issues of presentations that include bullet points, graphics such as charts, pics and so on.

With the wysiwyg you copy and paste. With the Normal you cannot do anything beyond simple text and pic links.

Modding up you can do some but you have to build the page from scratch which is extremely time consuming. And you still cannot do it all.

As I said before, my site will not upgrade to Olympus without this capacity. We loose to much functionality.

I want Olympus for sure. I like the admin, SubForums and so on better than what I have modded in.

But if it has to wait until a mod is developed I will wait. As others will wait.

Those who have been using it loose too many posts, data and materials to do otherwise.

Yeah, that's pretty easy to do, but completely pointless. Why would you edit a thread title or lock a thread without even reading the thread? You would HAVE to read the thread to know how to deal with it, and then there's absolutely no benefit to clicking back to the forum just to edit or lock, when you can do much more in a normal moderation form. I *LOVE* AJAX when used appropriately. It can improve the user experience tremendously. This, however, is just bloat.

Hey, guys!

You are on the wrong topic. AJAX is elsewhere. ;)

jejeje, if you guys had posted this in the AJAX thread I would have told vB could have done that without AJAX by just using hidden IFrames.
