Jay wrote:actually that's the one.. techie went in and fixed some stuff since he knows a TON more about JS than I do... i'm going to go into phpBB code and implement it in 2.0.x as a mod.. get that to work well.. and see how it fairs.. and i think paul said he would put it in the release of 2.2.x as long as there were the options of disabling it globally by the admin, the user being able to disable it, and have it break gracefully if the user has it chosen but their browser doesn't work with it.
this is great! Jay, in the meantime would you mind giving up that code? I would like to use it as a module for other parts on my site... a smarter version would be wonderful since breaking is a concern I had.
Hi, I'm new to this test forum so none of you know who I am but have any of you taken a look at htmlarea? It seems to be pretty popular. I have no coding experience other than plain html but I have lots of ideas so I'm sure I won't be taken seriously but here is the link just in case.

I am new to running a forum and have had a phpBB2 board up for a week now at http://www.cleanforum.com." target="_blank WYSIWYG formatting and editing would be very useful IMO, particular the possibility of cut and paste from my members' favourite wp.
My members are coaches and therapists and trainers mostly - not necessarily computer-literates (it doesn't make them 'dumb' by the way). They know Word and maybe Excel. Generally they aren't in the least interested in how text processing, the Internet or their computer works. Seeing codes in brackets around their text is just an irritation and a distraction. They just want to write their posts and highlight relevant bits with formatting, colour and so on. Maybe the odd image inserted. They're mostly concerned with the CONTENT of their message and want the MEANS to be as easy and transparent as possible.
So for us a WYSIWYG editor would be brilliant and I hope 2.2 incorporates one and even if there's a mod for 2.06, I'd be well pleased. I think the admin/user switching (as now with HTML/BBCode) would be useful too.
I think it will be bloat ware. I think it would be a mistake if it can not be cross system os and browser. I have notice that most wysiwyg editors do not work in unix or macs and often do not work on anything other than IE 5.5 or greater. Stick to a good forum and don't alienate a good chuck of the internet users.
That being said: "Qwebeditor" work in unix, macs, and windows with mozilla or firebird compatible browser.
