2.0.x

Post by haravikk »

When 2.2 is released, will it be possible to update 2.0.x to 2.2.x? I understand that a lot of the changes are major, perhaps 2.2 will understand database back-ups from 2.0.x so I could simply save a back-up, replace my directory with a new one containing 2.2, go through all the installation and then restore my old database before playing with the new toys :)

Not really a major concern for me personally since none of my boards have many posts, but I'm sure many people with very large boards don't want to lose all their data (phpBB itself mb? :P)
Images in sigs! please.

Upgrade functionality will be there as it was with the step from 1.4.x to 2.0.x.

I imagine the changes between 1.x and 2.0.x were larger than the ones that will be between 2.0.x and 2.2.x?

You are correct. 1.4.x to 2.0.x was a complete rewrite. 2.2.x is based on the 2.0.x codebase.

my guess would be the upgrade would be from the latest 2.0.x version down to all the previous versions without database changes.
