I just did a search for release dates for phpbb 2.2 and t be honest I was disturbed by the ammount of complaining I hear people making.

IF you like vbulletin so much, then go pay $180 a year to use it. Phpbb is free, and depending on what you use it for is much better than vbulletin. Thankyou veyr much to all of you who have taken the time to work on it.

I understand it is difficult to predict the completetion date of a project such as this one, but perhaps you cna give an estimate ? I hear the Dev's say some time in 2004... is there any cahnce you could approximate a month it might be done around ?

So let me get this straight... you just did a search on release dates and yet managed to miss every post that exists on pretty much every one of those fifty or more threads that says they won't give you any release date other than "when it's done" or "sometime this year"?

will the old templates 2.0.x templates work for 2.2.1? i also have about 2 mods on my phpbb that alters the SQL database. will i need to uninstall the mods in order to upgrade, or can they be integrated into the new phpbb?

Old templates will not work with 2.2.x, and I don't think you would need to uninstall those mods.

You won't need to uninstall them before performing the upgrade (to my knowledge), but they will NOT work out of the box in phpBB 2.2. MOD authors will more than likely be releasing updated versions soon after the release of 2.2.

Read the FAQ.

It will be released when it's ready.
Noone knows when this will be.
So be patient and wait for the release.

Note:
I won't think it's December. PM support is currently being worked on.
In the german test board it seems to work already.
So be patient and wait the release and then you'll be really happy about the new features.
