The 2.2 styling system ... feedback
Re: The 2.2 styling system ... feedback
I think smartors ezportal should be built into 2.2. That would be awesome.

Although Smartor's EZPortal is good, I'd rather prefer waiting for phpBB's version, or making my own, as I have with my phpBB 2.0 version. In other words, do not include it!brianru wrote:I think smartors ezportal should be built into 2.2. That would be awesome.
Anywho, back on topic...

I just want to comment on how great this development is looking. This is the first time I found the 2.2 testing board, and it looks great. I can't wait for it to go final.

No portal will be made directly into 2.2
There is an official portal project, and i would recommend that you wait for that.

IMHO is the new style is much more better than the old one
but the best thing is the color table on the right

I welcome the .tpl to html change. It seems to be a lot more user friendly and easier to customize.

phpBB 2.2 -> It Will r0ck you!
Re: The 2.2 styling system ... feedback
Just remember that phpBB is a forum package. It is not a CMS system, which is why I highly doubt a portal to be built directly into it.
In the future (not the near-future), they will probably get to work on their phpBB portal system and have it work with phpBB completely, it just most likely won't come built in. At least in my opinion.

phpBB Fetch All is better than EZPortal IMHO. All a portal does is syndicate the data that's in the forum. It needn't be built in or integrated. All it needs to do is access the database. In fact with phpBB Fetch All you don't even modify any of phpBB's files.
I can't delete my signature.

with the recent 2.x system i found you have to use the admincp as well as edit certain css files in the board itself or else styles will not take affect at all or only partially. Can all style editing and modification be done in the admincp now without having to dive into the boards code?
