Re: Delete yourself
to counter both arguments, how about deletion ability being decided by the admin, either selecting users can or cannot delete themselves?
Re: Delete yourself
Why dont we go a step further than other boards (since we're so innovative) and allow users to remove other users.

I call it plain stupid what you just said.[cR@zY]Null wrote:Well I have this as a mod right now. I've heard this will NOT be in 2.2 is this correct? Cause I find it plain stupid that you can sign up a forum but NOT delete yourself from it

Re: Delete yourself
With such things as a mod... will it take into account things like banned users? Personally, i dont think its a great idea...
As long as you dont have to display your email address, i dont see the need...

If you want to be deleted simply pm the admin of the board.

Re: Delete yourself
I want to third the vote for the "delete me" feature.
First, the user's "version" of "delete me" does not need to be the same as the program's version. The "delete me" button could just send a PM message or EMAIL to the administrator. It does not have to physically delete somebody, but from the user's perspective, they have been deleted.
Second, in every other industry a person has the option of being removed from a mailing list by simply saying "remove me from your list.", and the group is required to remove the person. I don't know if this is the law, but most companies respect a person's wishes when they say this. I know that this is true is telemarketing.
Third, not everybody who plans to start a bulletin board plans to sell advertising space. Other people may have other goals, and having an accurate count of who actually wants to be on the list, may be important to them. I understand the other side. That is why this feature should be admistrator controlled.
Fourth, having a "delete me" button is a convenience.
