Acronyms

Post by cgranade »

This is not- I repeat- is not a feature request, but a suggestion for template designers. With that out of the way, the new User Control Panel is often refered to as the UCP. I work with a lot of folks who are intimidated by acronyms, and so I would recommend using the official HTML 4.01 ACRONYM tag, as in:

Code: Select all

<ACRONYM title="User Control Panel">UCP</ACRONYM>
/me steps off soap box.

I would suggest using the XHTML version of the tag (<acronym> </acronym>), depending on if the template is coded in HTML or XHTML. I haven't looked too closely at the templates yet :)

With the acronym element (sorry, it's not a tag), the only difference between HTML and XHTML is the case, so far as I know.

Well the usual coding standard is in all lower case for tags and such, which makes what Trek said XHTML compliant.

There's a mod available for this for phpBB2 which may very well be updated for 2.2 as well. It's still in beta but you can grab it at codemonkeyx.net or in the MOD beta development forum at phpbb.com.
