Can the karma rating be tied in to the ranking system? giving a a rank based on amount of posts and karma rating. Quality and quantity. Can one do away with users rating users, and only rely on whatever you put in the automatic equation?
Norse mythology 101.
Heimdall or Heimdallr guards Bifrost, the bridge between Midgard (realm of man) and Åsgard (realm of the Aesir, the warrior gods). Vallhall is the hall of slain warriors in which Odin presides.
Thought you might like to know that...

Re: Karma Level
That would be excellent! Open Karma!
That is, allow the karma to be calculated according to the webmaster. So, if they wish to use a voting process (such as presented here), or a post counter, or combination, or a completely other methodology, do allow it. So the Karma MOD could have it's own.. sub-MODs?
Webmasters could develop their own Karma generators and share it with others.

Re: Karma Level
I agree, that would be cool. Maybe "mod" as in "module," not as in "modification," i.e. the modules would be small PHP files that could be dropped into a certain directory, and loaded when needed, sort of like how it's done with the new authentication system: there are now 3 different ways of authorizing- Database, Apache, and LDAP, and they're each controlled by an individual PHP file found in a certain directory, so it's not limited to those.
fun, sigs work!!!
Re: Karma Level
Can we call it something else besides Karma? Something more generic?

Before everyone gets carried away here and start rewriting 2.2 before it's even finished
There will be a certain amount of admin control over the calculation of karma. Discussions are ongoing concerning this. I won't discuss the event system at this time, partially because it's not "fully formed" in my head (and therefore discussion on it has been internally limited) and partially because I don't want to give ideas to others
... but (extremely large but, we're talking winner of the universes biggest butt competition for all time here) if what I am thinking comes to fruition think in terms of "streams" and "plugins". No, we won't rename it from "Karma" because that's what it _is_ generically known as across the wider internet.

Re: Karma Level
You obviously just learned mainstream Nordic mythology and not the history of its evolution to our present day understanding. Yes, Heimdall is the god of the sky who guards the rainbow bridge of Bifrost. The British incorrectly interpreted that to be spoken as 'Hy-mid-ol' phonetically, leading to the interpreted 'Heimidal'. 'Heimdall' is far too common on the net, so I chose to use the lesser-known, phonetically-pleasing 'Heimidal'.Olsen wrote:Can the karma rating be tied in to the ranking system? giving a a rank based on amount of posts and karma rating. Also, you spelled Vallhalla incorrectly. Don't be giving me a mythology lesson.

Re: Karma Level
there will be an option to disable the karma rating. when you re-enable it (if you decide to do so) will it pick up from where it left off? I believve it should but that's not the point... just asking.
also, if the answer is yes, is there going to be an option to reset the karma if a user (or users) abuse the system so that after you take action to prevent their karma usage, then the whole karma system could be reset without the system abusers?
hope that is clear... ?
