wouldn't be this - to a certain exent - maybe also a privacy issue? I mean, I already see the postings on the support forum... "I have seen that you have read my topic! Why don't you reply!" While I can see that it might be a useful feature, I would prefer if the "detailed whoisonline" can be disabled (assuming it becomes more detailed than it currently is).
Perhaps a more advanced "hidden" option would be good. You can choose whether to hide your status completely or just hide which thread you are reading or replying to.
Sorry if I've missed something but isn't this the case already?

Its standard on many forums so I can't see it being a privacy issue - 'hidden' users are hidden from the who's online list anyway right?
The only thing I would be worried about is normal members being able to see topic titles etc to topics in private forums (or is this taken care of?)
