Re: Quick Reply
Not really since for this all you have to do is send an extra several hundred bytes with each page.
Re: Quick Reply
Yeah - but you must check to see if it is enabled on the board every time viewtopic is shown as well.
The point I was trying to make is that if every little feature is integrated, then all of it adds up and can noticably reduce speed. In this case, though, I think its probably worth it.

Look, it's a simple MOD even for 2.0.x, and is likely to be even simpler to impliment in 2.2.x
However, it looks untidy, and generally the interface (basic textarea & submit button) only encorages short flippant replies. Fine for some boards, but inappropiate for many.

Re: Quick Reply
Draegonis, true, they indeed have to say no at some point within the game, I didn't meant to do say "please every single one of us". If it came that way, I apologize, what I meant is, when a huge ammount of users [like I've said, it's been asked a lot] do desire one feature, you should take a look at what's beeing asked, and see if it fits. I don't really care if you know him long enough, that's not the point. And I'm not asking him to change it. I was expresing what I thought about the topic, wether one agrees or not, it doesn't matter to me. My goal was made, I shared my mind.
psoTFX, like I said before, I don't really care if you change or don't change your mind at this time or any other time for that matter. In fact, I'm not asking you to, it's your board, go ahead and do with it as you please, you have that right, noone is fighting or arguing about that. Opinions, sometimes we need to learn how to listen them, and analyze them without snotty, or any other kind of attitude. Sorry if my post was too long, I was trying to make a point...sometimes I get carried away with ideas, but hey, better say what's on your mind than keeping it to yourself, or at least here in Venezuela, they teach us that.
Lugie, speed. That's the key, I find annoying sometimes having to load the full posting page in order to reply. So I find that feature, fast enough. No wonder why its name is "QUICK reply", sometimes you just want to quote, or add something small to the topic, yet I find it annoying when I have to load the entire thing just to make that small post. It's a nice addition, always have been. In the case of processes the addon run, it just needs to check if the user can post in that forum or not. Nothing else. And people is not asking for every single feature to be integrated, just useful, well known, and excellent features, that has been asked for a while.
SHS, Fine for some boards, but inappropiate for many. ACP option to turn Quick Reply on/off should cover that. Quite simple to add as well. And I agree, some users don't like short and flippant replies, sometimes those are the ones needed. So it all depends on what the user wants for his board, but then again, he should have options to decide from.
It's a matter of functionability. That's all.

Re: Quick Reply
At this point, i simply ask: Why are you still trying to argue your point? You've had your answer, and more than once at that.

This post of mine is not about quick reply or functionality. Feel free to disregard it.
Kuma: I think two key things come in to play. You say
And in a way this reminds me of some of the political discussions, where people expect that if the other one just thinks hard and thoroughly enough he must come to the same conclusion as oneself. Well, it's not like that, as we all know.
Further, you say you are from Venezuela. I have experienced myself that the "style" of communication is very different in different parts of the world, because of deep rooted cultural differences. I think you are mistake a short answer from the devs for a snotty/attitude answer. I can assure you it's not. Rather it is meat to be precise and clear, I am sure it was meant in a direct and friendly way.
Cheer up, we have all been there.

This is absolutely true, however if you keep hearing the same suggestion/idea (which is around for years) when you have already discussed and decided upon that: What do you do? Running your own communnity, you might know (if it's large enough) that there are certain topics which just keep recurring.Opinions, sometimes we need to learn how to listen them, and analyze them without snotty, or any other kind of attitude.

Re: Quick Reply
As per R. U. Serious, my reply was neither snotty or rude ... it was succint and to the point.
I don't feel I need to justify the reasoning behind every decision made in development for this board. Equally, when you've had people say "How about X?" or "Why are you not including Y?" for the x hundreth time it becomes a little irritating
Hence my clear, straight forward response which hopefully states the position at that time, ending further requests.
You should also note exactly what I say ... don't read only the negative aspects of it

Re: Quick Reply
True. Could be the way I perceive responses, and the way I analyze them given my background. So yes, I re-read it, and it sounds short, yet precise and clear, since he's stating what he feels at this momment towards quick reply.R. U. Serious wrote: Further, you say you are from Venezuela. Thanks.
Cheers.
