phpbb.com down alot

http://www.phpbb.com/ seems to be down often.
Its 1:22 am eastern US time here and its been down for about 35 mins.

Seemed to gradually grind to a halt over an hour or so. The whole server is down again.

Yea i wanna search for some add ons and ask some questions about the RC4/2.0 compatibility issues.

Even mods.phpb.com is down.

Sh** i jus found out somethin weird:
I did an email change, clicked the activation link and im logged in here (http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB2/) in second opened browser.

But in the first browser (http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/) i hit refresh and im still logged out.

How is is that?
Its 2 different URLs but its the same forum.

Yeah you answered your own question:

Your browser doesn't know it's the same site, so it won't supply the cookie. It just checks the url.

phpbb.com is sort of up again, but its really slow.

It's still being tweaked some what ...

We never planned for or anticipated the number of visitors it got the first day (300+ in the first few minutes). The board kept going but MySQL was installed with a default configuration so decided to take a vacation quite early on

Since then Bart and Frank have been trying various config changes to apache and MySQL to better cope with the average visitors (hovering around 60-80) and the odd spike (120+). Of course it's also handling the bugs and in-links pages plus a couple of other sites (IIRC). It's not doing too badly for a P3-750 I think
