Re: SEO URLs
Meta description is not useless, but is becoming less relevant. Google, Bing and Yahoo! don't use meta keywords at all (e.g. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot. ... a-tag.html , http://searchengineland.com/yahoo-searc ... -tag-27303 ). Sitemaps are important for discovery, although XML sitemaps are better than HTML sitemaps (HTML sitemaps are more for users than for SEs)....it is a good idea to use services like Google Webmaster tools and Bing webmaster center and submit your XML sitemaps there.

Nice topic! I assume some of here are SEO's expert. In the other hand, I learned from all of you. All of your ideas are great and well presented. Maybe I could apply all of your thoughts.
Thanks!

Re: SEO URLs
I can't believe how every site on the internet has moved towards using friendly urls, but phpBB doesn't. Major forum scripts have had user-friendly urls for over a decade and even free scripts have joined for years, but the phpBB team insists on keeping it without this feature.
The SAM user template idea was perfect in this thread: http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic ... 08&t=40965
Unfortunately, phpBB is going against the SEO guidelines of major search engines like the almighty Google.
And also unfortunately, any user who touches on this topic of SEO improvements in phpBB, has their topic closed and the topic closed, as if it was something that harms phpBB instead of improving it.

Re: SEO URLs
Because there's nothing else to discuss. Or do you think your post contributed to implementation, design, or anything else that would help with adding this feature?
