Just drop that into "yourforum/ext/davidiq/EnableRegEmailNotify", enable the extension, and you're all set. Quick and simple way to enable email notifications for PMs, replies, moderation queue, and default topic reply notifications to "Yes". Took all of 15 minutes or so to create (likely others have made a similar extension). And no it's not as simple to add to the core.
David, thank you!

I will surely install that. Forgive my ignorance: Will I be able to control each of those from the ACP? Or must I edit the extension's source code?
No there is no ACP panel to control options. Wasn't willing to spend more than 15 minutes on the extension. The extension is meant to be a simple way to enable all of the email subscribe options for newly-registered users. If you only want certain e-mail subscriptions to be enabled at registration then yes you would have to modify the code in main_listener.php

David, will you continue to code this extension adding the ACP side of it or can be taken by any soul?

Why not also for 3.1? Notifications?

Because all my extensions have been updated for 3.2 syntax (both php and twig)

Do you mean you aren't actually doing some thing more for phpBB 3.1.x?

Correct - this was based on the fact that 3.2 was supposed to be released over 12 months ago and that 3.1 was originally intended to be reaching EOL sometime around now.

Funnily enough, I just came to look at this thread to ask if this would be available for 3.2 & I see this reply

I am hoping to upgrade to 3.2 when it is released (less than ten days they tell me), would it be ok if I used your modification?

It would appear that it does infact work for 3.2 anyway...
